Can you wear nylons or tights with open toed shoes or sandals?
It's becoming more and more acceptable to wear nylons with open toed dress shoes, particularly in the colder months. I would, however, avoid tights with open toed shoes as they are a bit too thick. Be sure to choose nylons with no toe seams and as sheer as possible. Alternatively, you could wear nylons with a textured pattern with open toed shoes.
Is it okay to wear white shoes after Labor Day?
The fashion shoes jury is still out on this one. Some etiquette experts continue to insist it's absolutely unacceptable and others are more lenient. I personally think that white shoes after labor day are still okay for a few weeks, as long as the weather is appropriate! If it's freezing out, the white shoes will look funny!
I love my sexy high heeled shoes, but they give my blisters and chafe my heel. What would you suggest?
The best thing I've found for relieving the suffering we do for sexy shoes is clear band-aids. If you know in advance where those sexy high heeled shoes are going to chafe, put a clear band-aid on before wearing. It's invisible in most places and it makes you smile even brighter because those shoes aren't killing your feet!
What kind of shoes look best if you're short?
The most obvious solution is to opt for heeled shoes or boots whenever possible. Besides that, avoid ankle length boots, over the knee boots, and those fluffy winter ski bunny boots as they will all make your legs look shorter. Try high heeled pumps, sandals, sneakers, or knee high boots with some heel.
I like wearing shoes without socks, but some of them have started to smell funny. Any suggestions?
Foot powder may seem like something your parents use, but it actually can work wonders for smelly shoes. Take either foot powder or simple baking soda and sprinkle in your shoes generously. Let them sit for awhile and the shoes smell should be instantly better.
